Thursday Tutorial

Today's card is a tutorial that I got off the Scor-Pal website. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it to but I still think that it is pretty and the style is definitely something you don't see all the time. It is called the Half-Window card. You can find the directions here. The double bell image is from the hostess set Goody-Goody Gumdrops and the sentiments are from the new set that is in the Mini Occasions catalog called Very Versatile. I stamped the bells in VersaMark and embossed with Silver Tinsel embossing powder. Then on the white card stock, I stamped my VersaMark pad over the card stock and then embossed with Iridescent Ice stamp emboss powder. I cut my circles using the circle template and the Coluzzle and the new Scalloped Oval. I will try this one again. Thanks for looking!

My own mini magazine holder

I couldn't think of a title to go with Wednesday. I found this tutorial on making these mini magazine holders. You can go to Becky's website www.inkingidaho.blogspot.com for complete directions on to create your own holders. So I decided today I would make one and then I made one 3x3 card to put in it. Without envelopes you could probably get 8-10 3x3 cards in the holder. I used Cameo Coral card stock and Raspberry Tart DSP with a little Rose Red card stock. For the card, I used Cameo Coral, the Scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, the WOW Flowers stamp set. I used Cameo Coral and Rose Red ink. I used the circle and scallop circle to create Scallop frame. Then I took my piercing tool and traced around the Scallop circle. I used the new Scallop Oval punch to make a 'label' for my holder. I hope you like and thanks for looking.

MOJO TUESDAY?

Hey fellow stampers! It is not Monday but I doing the Mojo Monday Sketch that I should have posted yesterday. One of the reason I wanted to start participating in this sketch challenge is because it is a way to be creative. I start with the just the sketch layout, nothing else. No stamps, no color scheme, just the layout. Everything else is up to me. It took a few minutes to get an idea on what I wanted to do. I used the "Wow Flowers" set that debuted in the Fall Winter 2008 SU catalog. I used the Raspberry Tart DSP, Cameo Coral, Rose Red, and Very Vanilla card stock. I used Cameo Coral, Rose Red, VersaMark ink, and Black StazOn ink. I used 3 gold brads, Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon, Scalloped circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, and clear crystals. So check out the Mojo Monday sketch for this week. If you take up the challenge, leave me a comment or link so I can view your project. Thanks for looking!

Marvelous Monday

Well when I started to think about posting it was Monday but really now it is Tuesday. But I wanted to post something and then I will do the Mojo Magic sketch for tomorrow night. I did my own version of the Flower Pot card and I am also posting a photo of my friend Brenda's Flower Pot card. I think hers is better! (Hi Brenda and thanks for letting me post you again!) I used glossy cardstock that I sponged with Pacific Point and Baja Breeze then I punched out three scalloped circles. I punched a smaller circle and added Dazzling Diamonds to give it some depth. I made leaves with the glossy paper by sponging Glorious Green and Gable Green and then ran it through my crimper and cut them into a leaf shape. I used the So Saffron ribbon from the Sale-a-bration catalog. I stamped the snail from the Garden Whimsy set in Kiwi Kiss and cut it and attached it to the pot with a dimensional. I think it turned out pretty good. I stamped 'thanks for sharing you with me' from the Fun and Fast Notes set. Thanks for looking and see you tomorrow.

Sunday Storms

Sorry this is so late but we had really bad thunderstorms today and my husband has rules about the computer during lighting. Today's project is a little tongue in cheek. I used some card stock that I had on hand. It is a textured yellow card stock that was pre-folded with 'doors'. I used my scallop edge punch from the top and bottom of the card and added a black gingham ribbon bow to the front. I hand wrote with an acid free marker "Don't Worry" and used the SU set Happy everything, to stamp "happy" under my trio of bees. This stamps is a Stampendous stamp called "Bee Trio" that I picked up at Michael's yesterday on clearance. My bees were colored with Sakura Stardust glitter pens and a black water color pencil. I stamped "happy" in Basic Brown Classic Ink. I used Dazzling Diamond on the wings to give it a little extra sparkle. Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for looking.

FRIDAY FIZZ OUT

Greetings my fellow stamp addicts. No project to post tonight. I tried, really I did but everything I came up with looked like ^&(^%%! So I decided to give my brain a rest tonight but I will be back tomorrow with a project. I am almost up to 500 visitors on my blog....I can't believe it! When I started my blog I figured that my stamp club ladies would look every once in awhile but I have been posting my projects on Split Coast Stampers and I have been entering contests like the Mojo Monday Sketch contest so the fact that my blog isn't even a month old and I am already at almost 500 and I know they aren't all me (LOL) makes me feel really good. When I hit a 1000 visitors I will have a blog candy giveaway so stick with me and keep coming back. Thanks for checking in with me today.

Almost Friday Thursday

Greetings, stampers! Hope your week is going great! Today's project is a card using the set "That's Funny!" which is new to the Spring/Summer 2009 catty. I used the birthday cake with the candles. I used Real Red card stock, the Scallop edge punch, black gingham ribbon, Summer Picnic DSP, and the 1 1/4 square punch. I stamped the image in Black StazOn onto Very Vanilla cardstock. I colored the candles with the Bold Brights Stampin' Write markers. I used a clear glitter pen for the wicks and the cake plate. I colored the "frosting on the cake with Pink Passion and then used a blender pen to pull the color down. This technique actually works a lot better if your image is stamped on watercolor paper. I used the square punch to create a window in the front of the card. I adhered my colored image with Stampin' Dimensionals so that it shows threw the window. I used the Scalloped Edge punch to scallop the opening side of the card. Then I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes on the fold of the card to run the black gingham ribbon through and then tied a bow. I added a stripe of Summer Picnic DSP along the edge of the scallop. The sentiment under the cake says,"a candle for every year might not be such a good idea....happy birthday!" Thanks for stopping by.

Where did the Week go Wednesday!

Today's project is a complete original. I say that because I am just starting to feel confident enough to try my hand at putting images and ideas from my head into projects. The one adjustment I made was a suggestion from my big sister which was added an extra piece of card stock to give depth to the cap. This card is made from texture red card stock that I had on hand. I sketched out a graduation cap and then cut out my cap. I added a second piece of red card stock to the top part of the cap to give it a little more depth and it really makes it look more like a graduation cap. Then I used my sister's Cricut to cut out the "UNO" and the "2009". The diploma came from a piece of scrapbook paper that had caps and diplomas on it. I used a circle punch to create the 'button' that is on the cap that holds the tassel. For the tassel, I cut several strands of gold embroidery floss and wrapped them around the 'button'. On the inside I stamped "congratulations" and "you out did yourself again". I inked the edges of the card with Versamark again trying to add some depth Another thing I did but didn't take a picture, was I added a quote from Walt Disney (the man) "All of our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." I really liked that quote because my friend is pursuing her dream of being a pharmacist and I am so incredibly proud of her. I love the way the card turned out and I know she will too. Hope you like it and thanks for looking. I also wanted to add a quick exciting note. I am blogging to you from my own computer again. A few months ago, my tower died and I have been sharing with my husband and sister. But I am back in business again on my very own computer. So hopefully the post will get done a little earlier in the evening.

Mojo Magic Monday

Tonight's post is a project that I created to participate in the Mojo Monday sketch. You can find other projects here.
The card base is Pacific Point card stock. I used Kiwi Kiss to create a band across the card. I used the Scallop Edge punch on the bottom. I sponged Pacific Point ink lightly. I stamped "Congratulations" in Pacific Point. The back piece of card stock is also Kiwi Kiss but I used a technique called faux linen. I took a piece of glossy card stock. I used a piece of sand paper moving from top to bottom and then side to side. I brayered Kiwi Kiss ink onto it at an angle. On a piece of Very Vanilla, I sponged Pacific Point and then stamped the wedding bells from the level 3 hostess set, "Goody-Goody Gumdrops" I added Dazzling Diamonds to the heart and the base of the bells as well as the bands. I stamped "welcome to the wedded bliss club" in Pacific Point onto Kiwi Kiss on a 1 3/4 circle punch. I then made a scallop circle frame in Pacific Point. I attached it to the card with dimensional. I think it turned out great, considering I had nothing planned until I printed the sketch. Thanks for looking!

STAINED GLASS SUNDAY

Today's project is my mother's day card for my mom and I am safe posting it because my mom doesn't navigate the net. I found the directions for this technique on the SU demo website. I was looking for techniques for my May stamp club and thought this sounds like it would be fun and make some pretty cards. The results are amazing! I used the Morning Glory flower stamp from the Morning Soft set(#115036). I stamped the image in Versamark ink on clear vellum card stock and then embossed it with black emboss powder. I tried different colors of emboss powder and nothing made the image pop like the black. I then colored the leaves with Gable Green Stampin' Write Marker and then used Glorious Green Stampin' Write marker to high light. Then I colored the center of all the flowers with YoYo Yellow Stampin' Write marker. The center bloom is colored first with Cameo Coral and then highlighted with Rose Red..have you noticed that I have been using those color combos a lot lately, the top flower I colored first with Pink Passion marker and used the Real Red to high light. The small bloom to left of the center is colored with Lovely Lilac marker and high lighted with Orchid Opulence. What an awesome technique. The card base is, yes you guessed it Cameo Coral. I used the Oval template for the Coluzzle (that isn't available anymore =(. I used it to create a frame for the image with Rose Red card stock and then used the Oval template again to create a window in the card base. I went three ovals toward the center. I glued the Rose Red frame to the vellum with Sticky tape and then I glued it over the opening in the card base. I stamped the "i am turning into mother" greeting from Eight Great Greetings. I stamped the lucky me on the inside of the card. I used the new Scalloped oval punch from the Mini Occasions to punch it out and then used dimensionals to attach it to the top of the card. I think that it is GORGEOUS!! I could be a little biased and the best part is I know that my mom will love it. Happy a great Sunday and thanks for looking.

Saturday Stamp Fun

Happy Stampin’ Saturday! Today’s projects is going to high light one of the newer set from the Mini Occasions called And Many Mower. This set is very versatile for masculine cards that you want to be humorous. What I chose to make today is a Father's Day card. My dad loves to golf. When he first retired from his job, he would golf 6 days a week. So when I saw this stamp set I knew I had to get it so I could make golf cards for my dad. Especially on those years that his birthday falls on Father's Day like this year. My color recipe is Old Olive card stock for the base. I used a Scor-Pal to create a grid like appearance. I used Really Rust to create a band across the front. I framed the image on a piece of More Mustard. My image is stamped on Very Vanilla with Black Staz on. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Brown at an angle in the corner. I stamped " Happy Father's Day"' on the inside and I will add Happy Birthday. Even though my dad will say that he should get two cards because they are separate occasions. Thanks for stopping by.

FRIDAY ORIGINALS

Today's projects are 3x3 cards well except the "Happy Future" card it is actually 3.5x3.5 I had to make that one a little bigger because of the way I made the used the corner punch that I still don't know the name of that I know is a retired punch. This will be the last project that I will use this on because I will have to return it to my niece. Okay starting at the top left. All the images are from the Eight Great Greetings set that is in the Mini Occasions catalog. All the designer paper is from the Walk in the Park which is also in the Mini catalog. The card base is Cameo Coral, I used the scallop edge punch on the side of the card that opens. I used the Scallop edge punch on the DSP as well. I stamped the "You're the icing on the cake!" with black StazOn. I colored the cake with the Cameo Coral and Rose Red Stampin' Write markers. I used Baja Breeze and a blender pen for the plate that the cake is on and put Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the flame of the candle. Next is the "for your shower" (this one I don't like as much) I used So Saffron for the card base, Walk in the Paper DSP. I used the Scallop Edge punch to create a medallion which I made from Kiwi Kiss. I stamped the image in Rose Red and used the new Scallop oval punch that is also in the Mini catalog. The ribbon on this one is So Saffron grosgrain ribbon that was the SAB ribbon bundle. The "Happy Future" card base is a dark grey to be absolutely honest, I am not 100% sure that is a SU card stock, I used a Baja Breeze pattern from the Walk in the Park paper. I cut a rectangle from Baja Breeze card stock and used the corner punch the makes the swirls, I used the same DSP and then I stamped the image on Baja Breeze card stock with like ink and punch it out with Scallop circle. I thought it needed something along the fold line to create some balance so I created a "cheater" bow with Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon. The card is the "thanks so much" I used Basic Grey for the card base and one of the Basic grey pattern from the Walk in the Park. I used the Curly label to punch out the center then I stamped the image with black StazOn on the Basic Grey and used the Curly label again. I put the image on the inside of the card with a dimensional and rounded the corners. I love making these 3x3 cards because you can make them really pretty quick and they would make the perfect card for a gift bag. Thanks for looking.

Make It Sparkle Thursday

Today's project is simple but I think it turned out great! I used Big Bold Candle stamp set. I used Cameo Coral, Rose Red, and Kiwi Kiss along with Raspberry Tart DSP. The card base is the Cameo Coral. I took a piece of Rose Red and used the scallop edge punch on both sides of it. I adhered this piece to the base about 2/3 from the bottom. I stamped the candle outline on two different patterns from the Raspberry Tart and one candle from the Kiwi Kiss. I stamped "make a wish!" in Cameo Coral on the Kiwi Kiss candle. I stamped "happy birthday to you with Versamark on the Rose Red. I used the circle design from the candle set to make the circles with Rose Red on the card base. To create my flames, I used some glossy white card stock. I used my YoYo Yellow Stampin' Write marker and created a circular area. I rubbed that it with a Stampin' Sponge. Then I sponged Tango Tangerine along the bottom of the yellow. The last thing I did to the flame with added a little Real Red and rubbed that in. I stamped the solid flame in Versamark and then embossed it with Iridescent Ice emboss powder to make it sparkly! Took about about 10 minutes and it is beautiful. (in my opinion anyway). Thanks for stopping by.

Wednesay Rework

I would say Happy Tax Day but I want people to come back to my blog. So I will say I hope you all got that taken care of before the deadline. Today's project is another rework. I found a card layout on the Hero Arts website and decided to remake it using SU products. I think I should have made it a little bigger. The card base is 5 x 5 with the mat is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2. It should have been 6x6 with the mat a 1/2 inch smaller. I used the 1 3/8 circle punch from SU. The only non SU product is the other circle punch I used, it is the large circle punch from Fiskars. This card is very colorful and I used the "Just Buzzin By" stamp set which I love. The little bees are colored with Yo-Yo Yellow and a clear glitter pen. The honey pots are colored with Basic Brown by using a Blender Pen and the honey is Yo-Yo Yellow with some glitter. The flowers were Cameo Coral/Rose Red and Orchid Opulence/Lovely Lilac. I used the So Saffron ribbon from the SAB catalog. I stamped the sentiment right onto the ribbon and then I cut the ends to make them look like flags. The card base is Green Galore and the mat was Tempting Turquoise. The small circle is Very Vanilla. I used Yo-Yo Yellow, Only Orange, Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Orchid Opulence for the framing circles. Inside I stamped " have a a honey or a day". I attached the ribbon and the circles with dimensionals. Overall, I like it. Hope you liked it too.

Thank-You Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!!! Today's post is a group of thank you notes that I made for my best friend who is graduating from college with her Bachelor's degree and because I am posting this she will decide to check out what I have been doing...but I can't keep a gift a secret anyway. These were very simple to make. If fact, I put them all together on Sunday night. I used Real Red card stock and black emboss powder. The graduation hat stamp that I used is one that my sister purchased at our local Archiver's store. I stamped it in Versamark ink on the card stock. Then I used the "thank you" from the Greetings Galore set which is retired. I stamped in the base of the hat and then I embossed the entire image with black emboss powder. I rounded the corners of the card and viola---done. I made 30 of them for her. So I hope she likes them. Thanks for looking.

Walk in the Park Monday

Welcome to the beginning of another work week. Hope everyone's day was great! Today's project uses the new Walk in the Park DSP that is in the mini occasions catalog. I used Baja Breeze, Basic Grey, and Cameo Coral card stock. I used the Thoughts and Prayers and Heard from the Heart sets again. I am going to use this project as an anniversary card for my niece and her husband. This is a more standard card size and will fit into a Stampin' UP! medium envelope. On the Walk in the Park paper, I took Crystal Effects and high lighted some of the branches. I attached the DSP with dimensionals onto Baja Breeze. I stamped "Wishing you happiness today & always" in Baja Breeze onto the Basic Grey. I then ink the tree from the Thoughts & Prayers with versamark. I used the scalloped edge punch on the bottom and then put a layer of Cameo Coral with the scallop edge under the Basic Grey. Those two layers were attached towards the bottom of the DSP. I rounded the corners of the card. I sponges a little Baja Breeze on the tree... This one I liked much better than yesterday's post and you get a better idea on some of the Walk the Park paper. You will be seeing more of this paper. Thanks for stopping by.

SUNDAY SELEBRATION

HAPPY EASTER!! I hope every one had a great day spent with family and friends. We had a nice quiet dinner here at home. Even with only three people, we had too much food. Means lots of left overs. Today's project is something that I have seen on Split coast and other blogs. I decided today that I would try one. I call it a three panel card. I don't know if I used too big of a stamp for my image or if I had too many layers but in order to make this card how I wanted it, it ended up being an 8 1/2 X 11 card. I took a full sheet of Baja Breeze and folded it in half. The image is the branch from the Thoughts and Prayers set. I colored the stems and leaves with Gable Green Stampin' Write marker. I colored the flowers with Cameo Coral and Rose Red stampin' write markers. I stamped it on very vanilla card stock. Then I cut this image into 3 parts...as equal as possible. The layered them onto Cameo Coral card stock and then on the new Walk in the Park DSP. I used the "kindness" stamp from the Heard from the Heart set. I used a jumbo Stampin' Wheel..."Whimsy" on the bottom under the panels with Baja Breeze. I used Crystal Effects to trace parts of the "Whimsy" and then used Dazzling Diamonds glitter to give it some sparkle. I stamped the greeting in Baja Breeze onto Cameo Coral card stock and used the Scalloped Edge punch and adhered the to card stock with dimensionals. I am not entirely sure I like on it turned out but it will probably grow on me. I think that next time I will use a small image and create much smaller panels. I do like how the glitter looks on the "Whimsy". I will use the Walk in the Paper again this week so you can see it better. This project doesn't showcase it very well. Thanks for looking.
