Hey stampers!  Tonight's project is a card that I made with my goddaughter's girl scout troop.  Riley, my goddaughter, and her Daisy troop wanted to earn a badge and do something nice for their leader.  The regular leader had hip replacement surgery and the girls made get well cards for her.  My best friend is the current leader until the end of the month so she called me and asked if I could come and do a project with the girls.  How could I say no.  Basically, this is a spin off of the flower pot card.  But I was a afraid that would be too much for the little ladies so I made this up instead.  The base is Certainly Celery with corners rounded.  I used the same measurements for my pot as you do for the traditional card.  Once I had it cut out, I put adhesive on the edges of the pot and attached it to the Certainly Celery.  The pot is made from some textured brown card stock that I had on hand.  The ribbon is something I got at my local craft store.  I used the Scalloped circle and 1 3/8 circle to make the 'daisy', the other flowers are different flower punches that my sister has. I glued three flowers to the pot and two to the top of the insert.  I stamped 'get well soon' on it.  Several of the girls wanted to write personal messages on the card and choose not to stamp but they all loved it.  I also drew smiley faces on some of the centers of the flowers to give it a little more whimsy.  It turned out great and the girls had a great time.  So you could be seeing more projects from the Daisy's.  Thanks for stopping by.

Bring on the trees

Hey stampers!  Today's project is a more masculine card using some of the In Colors and the Lovely As a Tree set.  I used Dusty Durango as the card base and stamped the leaves from the set to create a little background.  I stamped the the pine tree image from the set in Timber Brown Staz On.  I stamped the image three times and then stamped off and stamped the image again to create a "forest" appearance.  I stamped these onto Crushed Curry card stock.  I edged the card stock with Crushed Curry ink and framed it with Soft Suede card stock.  Then I adhered the piece to the Dusty Durango.  The tab is half of the rounded tab punch.  I used Dusty Durango again and stamped Happy Birthday with the Timber brown again and put that up in the left corner.  The inside says.."May your day be the wish come true kind" from Very Versatile from a previous mini catalog.

On this particular card, I used the same colors and stamps but I just changed it up.  On this card, my base is the Soft Suede, I still stamped on the Crushed Curry but framed it with the Dusty Durango.  The sentiment is on the outside with the "Happy Birthday" on the inside.  I did more stamping off with the trees and edged the Crushed Curry with the Soft Suede ink.  I love both of these cards and hope you enjoy them too.  Thanks for stopping by.

I am tired of Snow...dreaming of Spring

Happy Valentine's Day stampers!  Today's project is spring in a card.  Just looking at the card makes me really want to see flowers and spring time.  I live in Nebraska and we have had the worst snow winter in a long time.  I have lived here since 2001 and can't remember ever having this much snow and it being so cold.  Anyway,  last night, I built a fire and decided to practice my water coloring and this is what I came up with.
I stamped the roses with black Staz On onto to white water color paper then I took my Prismacolor water color pencils  and traced around the edges of each rose.  Once I felt I had enough color down on each rose, I took a blender pen and worked the color from the edges towards the next line of the rose.  After all my roses were colored, I took my dark green pencil and added color between each rose and then blended the green to give the look of a "garden".  I used the rose image from the Fifth Avenue Floral set and I stamped the sentiment from the same set in Melon Mambo ink onto pink pirouette card stock.  I framed it with Basic Grey card stock.  I framed my water color piece with a shimmery silver that I had in my scraps box and then mounted the whole thing onto a Basic Grey base.  The card size is larger than normal but I couldn't bring myself to trim any of the roses down so the card is about 6 1/2 inches wide and about 6 inches tall.  I will use this as a card for way to chase your dreams kind of card or maybe I will keep it to give me a boost of Spring until the snow goes away.  I hope you like and thanks for stopping by today.

Masculine Birthdcard.

Hey stampers!  Today's project is card that would be perfect for a masculine birthday card.  My card base is Soft Suede card stock.  I used glossy white card stock for the images and it is trimmed in Crushed Curry.  The tree image is from the set Lovely As a Tree.

To create the color scheme on the glossy card stock, you will need re-inkers and baby wipes, rubber gloves if you don't like to get inky.  I used Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, and Kiwi Kiss (retired).  Bunch up the baby and place a line of each color on the wipe.  I did the Curry, then Kiwi, and the Suede last.  Once you have inked your wipe, move it across the glossy card stock to create your background.  I let my glossy card stock dry over night before I did anything else to it.  Then I stamped the trees in Timber Brown Staz On ink.  I took my Crushed Curry and Soft Suede ink pad and inked the edges of the card stock and then did direct to paper with each color.  I trimmed the glossy card stock with Crushed Curry and adhered it to Soft Suede.  I stamped the "happy birthday"  in the StazOn as well.  I used 6 gold nail head stickers, three in the top left and three in the bottom right under the sentiment.  The best thing about this technique is you can make different designs and backgrounds.

I really like the way it turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well.  Thanks for stopping by today and have a Happy Valentine's Day!
