Changes

Hey stampers!  I have made some changes to blog and I wanted to take a minute to explain.  I am no longer going to be a Stampin' UP! demonstrator.  This has been a hard decision for me and I have been struggling since Stampin' UP! changed our independent agreement to include a clause about posting on blogs.  I am a firm believer that you should use whatever provides you with inspiration.  I love the Stampin' UP! product and a lot what I use will continue to be SU but sometimes you come across something that speaks to you and I want to be able to share everything with you!  So I will continue to post projects and share with you and I am hoping to have more tutorials for you and continue to share my love of paper crafting.  Thanks for stopping by.

Do not adjust your computer monitor.......

Hey stampers!  No you don't need to adjust your computer monitor this really is a post with a new project.  As a Stampin'UP! demo, I am not really suppose to post projects that high light other companies products..which I understand but with my mojo being a little off..I am going to take inspiration where I can so there are some Stampin' UP! products and some non SU products.  This is a Halloween card that I made using a laser cut sticker by Mrs Grossman's.  Now while this is gorgeous and I love how it turned out...it will be one of kind because the other sticker that was in the package got ruined because I didn't think my project all the way through...and really I might make more you never know.  Anyway on to the card.  The sticker is black and it is spooky Halloween night.  I started by putting my sticker on a neutral card stock.  Then I took my black water color pencil and colored in the night.  Then I used my Sakura glitter gel pens to color the windows of the house so it looked like someone was.  I colored the moon with my yellow water color pencil and colored the word "boo" with purple and then went over it with the purple Sakura glitter pen.  I took a blender pen to smooth out the pencil lines in the night and in the moon.  Then I took yellow Stickles glue glitter and went over the windows again.  I wanted my moon to look 'foggy' so I used white Stickles on it.  I set it aside and let the Stickles dry.  Then I took my homemade 'glitter mist' and sprayed the scene.  The 'glitter mist' is rubbing alcohol mixed with silver Pearl-ex powder (which is one of the first things I ever bought as a SU customer and it is retired now).  Because it is rubbing alcohol...it takes a LONG time to dry but gives a gorgeous sparkly to the black scene.  Once it was all dry, I trimmed it down so you couldn't see the light color anymore and then I used Rich Razzleberry to trim it.  The sticker is 3 x 3 3/4 so I cut my Razzleberry to 3 1/4 x 4.  Then I used Tango Tangerine as my card base and put my sticker in the upper left area of the card.  I then added some bat stickers that I have. and put a black strip of card stock along the bottom and 3 glitter brads in the new In Colors, I used the Peach Parfait, sounds yummy right.  And on the inside I stamped "Trick or Treat"  using a retired hostess set from the last catalog.  

Crazy Summer!

Hey stampers!  No I don't have a new project for you today...but I will soon, I promise.  This summer has been totally crazy and somewhere along the way...my mojo was kidnapped.  I think I have managed to free it and will be creating away so I can provide you with new projects.  Plus my best friend commented to me that I hadn't posted anything in a while and I quote," I may only look at the pictures but I do check it out."  Love you Ange and I am working on a bridge for us.  So have a great Thursday and check back and I will have a new project for you.

A little late but worth the post

Hey stampers!  I meant to get this card posted before the new catalog went live on the 1st but sometimes even with the best of intentions things get away from you.  I used Cameo Coral as the card base, Certainly Celery as the frame and white card stock for the image.  I used the Fresh Cuts stamp set.  On the Certainly Celery, I used the branch image and stamped that in Versamark ink.  I stamped my main image on the white card stock with brown Staz on.  The "for you" was also stamped in brown Staz-on and is punched out on 1/2 of the Curly label punch.  What I did to the main image that I hadn't even ever thought about doing until I was looking through some of my old Stampin' Success magazines (this is a magazine that we get from SU) and someone won the monthly card contest that Stampin' UP! does for the demos.  What this demo did was color the flowers in the lower right of the image.  I used Cameo Coral and Green Galore Stampin' Write markers.  These colors are both retired now.  The ribbon is 5/8" satin in Chocolate chip, the ribbon is available again in this style but not in this color.  I decided to still post this card because I am sure there are plenty of people who have old stuff and still want ideas on what to do with it and I loved the idea of coloring on this image.  So thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Sneak Peek

Hey stampers!  As you can tell by your calendar, it is almost time for a new Stampin' UP! catalog.  So I have I have a little sneak peek.  Tonight's project uses the Awash with Flowers (which will be available tomorrow), a level 3 Hostess set from the new catalog called Occasional Quotes.  I did a technique called "emerging color".  This is the first time I have attempted this and for my first time I think it turned out pretty good.  I used Certainly Celery card stock measuring 5x5, a 1x5 strip of Melon Mambo, and white card stock.  For ink I used Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, and Soft Suede.  For this technique, you take a piece of white card stock and stamp your images in a darker color. ( I used Rich Razzleberry.) Randomly stamp your images all of the piece of card stock including stamp off the side a little bit.  Once you have that how you want, you will need to create a "mask"  I used a piece of scrap paper and cut out about a 4" circle.  I laid my mask over my stamped images, while holding the mask down, I covered the image that was still showing with Versa Mark ink.  Once I had good coverage, I took away the mask and added clear embossing powder to the versa mark.  I used my heat tool to set the powder.  Then I took my Speedball brayer and applied a layer of Melon Mambo ink.  Once I had the color saturation I wanted, I took a paper towel and wiped the color off of my embossed image.  This creates the "emerging" color.  Once this piece is done, I folded my Certainly Celery card stock and then added the strip of Melon Mambo.  I added my main image and then made my little flag that says "Birthday Wishes".  I rounded the bottom corners of the card base.  On the inside, I stamped "one day isn't enough to celebrate someone as WONDERFUL as you...let's party all week!".  This technique takes a few extra minutes but it is worth it.  Let me know what you think and I would love to see samples of your own work.  Thanks for stopping by tonight.

Breakin' the Rules

Hey Stampers!  I say I am breakin' the rules but I am tempering that with sharing something I love which is making cards.  The card stock is Old Olive from Stampin' UP!  The sentiment is from the Stampin' UP! set called On Your Birthday.  The ribbon and the Calla Lily image are not.  I used my Prisma Color markers for the coloring and my colorless blender for those and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out.  So I had to share.  I stamped the image with Timber Brown Staz onto water color paper.  Once I colored my image and felt it was dry, I cut out around the flowers and stems.  Then I used dimensionals to pop the image up on white card stock.  I used a card that I cut an oval opening and had not used.  So I attached the white card stock on the back of the Old Olive and then attached my flowers.  The ribbon was from something I already had on hand.  The brads are a white/vanilla color and I honestly have no idea where they came from.  So I hope you like it and thanks for stopping by.

Father's Day Card

Hey stampers!  Here is one of the father's day cards I have made.  I used the dad from Eight Great Greetings which is retiring at the end of the month.  I stamped the image on a piece of glossy card stock using Timber Brown Staz On.  I set it aside and let it dry for a few minutes, which is something you should do with anything you stamp on the glossy card stock.  Once it was dry, I did kind of a "outside beachy" thing.  I started with a dark blue and sponged it on the bottom, then went gradually lighter and then switched to different greens.  Then I took a sponge and wiped the ink off the inside of the "d".  I let that dry and then frame it with Night of Navy card stock.  Then I took a piece of Bordering  Blue and folded it to a card size of  4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I put in the circles embossing folder and sent it through the Bigh Shot.  I took a piece of Basic Grey card stock and put that across the middle of the card.  I attached my image in the center and then added 3 nail head stickers on either side of the image.  It is a pretty simple layout and design but I like the look of it.  I still have one more Father's Day card to make so you will see that later this week.  Thanks for stopping by.
