Good Morning stampers! No, don't check the clock, we have not entered an alternate universe. I really am posting this early. Today's project is something that I saw on Jan Tink's blog. But I don't have the movers and shapers die cut for the Big Shot...but I wanted to make the votive holder. So using Jan's measurements for the card stock, I started with a piece of card stock that is 4 1/4 x 11. I scored my card stock starting from the left, a 1/2 then from that score line, I scored at 2 1/2, 5, 7 1/2, and 10. Then I took the Scallop Edge punch and used it on the top. Then I folded my score lines and took the 1 3/8 circle and punched a circle in each panel of my card stock. Then I took four 2 in pieces of vellum that I had on hand and covered the circles from what will be the "inside" of the holder. Then stamped images from Autumn Harvest and cut them out and decorated around the "windows". This was my first attempt and I think that it turned out pretty good. I found the battery operated tealights at my local Dollar Tree. I apologize for the pictures they aren't very focused but hopefully you can see what I did. Thanks for stopping by today and in case I don't get a chance to post until after the holiday. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Happy Almost Thanksgiving
Hey stampers! I love having a short work week. Tomorrow is my Friday. My DH, myself, and furry child are headed to Sioux City for the holiday. My family traditions are strong so it is hard to get my dad to do something different but this year we convinced him to let us cook Thanksgiving dinner so he can relax and watch football. So I expect I will spend a lot of time telling my 76 year old father to get out of his own kitchen but I am really looking forward to the time with my family. Well, I digress. Tonight's project is one that I have seen on several other blogs. I made my own glitter ornaments. What you need is clear glass Christmas ornaments. Some craft stores have them in the "make-it yourself" section for Christmas. Make sure they are clear. The ones I am showing you tonight are iridescent so there is a section where you can't really see the glitter but I think they turned out gorgeous. I also included pictures of what your hands look like if you don't use good rubber gloves. Stampin' UP! re-inkers, fine grain glitter ( I used Dazzling Diamonds). Something to drain your extra ink into from the ornament, I also had baby wipes and lots of paper towel. To start, remove the hanger portion of your ornament...be careful the inside of the top of the ornament can be sharp (found out the hard way). Put several drops of your chosen ink into the ornament. I slowly swirled the ink towards the opening and then I put my thumb over the opening and shook the ornament. Then I put it upside down to drain. I let mine drain for about 5 mins before I added the glitter because on the lighter colors when you shake the ornament, you get little groups of bubbles and it takes about 5 minutes for them to clear out. Once I thought it had drained long enough, I added several small spoons of my Dazzling Diamonds and shook the ornament to coat the inside with the glitter. This is not a project to do if you do not like glitter....I made these on Friday night and I still have pieces of glitter stuck to me. I used Rich Razzleberry (top left ), Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette (retired), Kiwi Kiss (retired) and Crushed Curry(bottom left). The Crushed Curry I think is my favorite. It is just gorgeous in real life. Then of course the last photos are of my fingers and thumb. It only took 4 days to wash almost to normal. So thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think.

Snow Red
Hey Stampers! Tonight's project uses one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets. Snow Swirled. I used Real Red card stock as the base. The designer paper is one of the patterns from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty paper in the current Holiday Mini. I used my 1 3/8 circle punch, the Scallop Circle, whisper white card stock, Real Red ink, 1/4" Real Red grosgrain ribbon, and Dazzling Diamonds. I stamped the tree from the Snow Swirled set with Real Red classic ink on Whisper White card stock. On a couple of the snowflakes in the tree, I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I adhered the image to a slighter larger piece of Real Red card stock and then wrapped the ribbon around both. I did a standard size card, and cut my designer paper slightly smaller. I mounted the tree image in the upper left corner. I stamped "be merry" in Real Red ink and then stamped the smallest snowflake from the Snow Swirled set. I added Dazzling Diamonds to the centers of the snowflakes. I punched that out with the 1 3/8 circle punch and then attached the circle to the Scallop Circle in Real Red and attached that to the lower right corner. I don't normally like monochromatic cards but I love this. I will be making more of these. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Friday the 13th
Happy Friday the 13th. I hope every made it without anything bad happening. Tonight's project is one that I cased the basic idea and added a little flair from me. This is the Pinwheel technique and I learned it from this fabulous lady, Barb. My card uses supplies I have used in my previous Christmas card posts so there will not be a supply list tonight. The link I provided to Barb's blog actually opens to the page where she has a video on how to do this card. It is super easy. I used Soft Suede for the card base. Real Red and I ran it through the Big Shot with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder (love this). I took my Gold Encore ink pad and rubbed it over the Real Red to give it the gold shimmery look that you can sort of see in the photo. The designer paper in my pinwheel is from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty paper that is in the current mini catalog (which is valid until 1/4/09, shameless plug). I used Real Red 1/4 grosgrain ribbon at the bottom of the embossed piece. I used my Scalloped oval and stamped "be merry" from the Warm Words set. The gold brad that I used in the center of my pinwheel is the only non-SU item that I used. I love this layout and the whole look. So thanks for stopping in to see what I had going on tonight. So what did you think? Leave me a note.

A Two for One
Hey stampers! Tonight's project is a twofer. I wanted to make an ornament but still wanted to have a card. So I started with a Soft Suede card base. I stamped the two biggest snowflakes from the Snow Swirled set in the Gold Encore ink. The ornament is made from the striped pieces from the Christmas Cocoa designer series paper. I used some inexpensive card board coasters that I picked up in the $1 bin at my local craft store. I covered the coaster with the striped paper. Then I stamped the smallest snowflake from the Snow Swirled with the Gold Encore ink. I stamped the sentiment from the Heard from the Heart set in Real Red ink onto Soft Suede card stock. I used the scalloped edge punch on that piece. I attached a piece 1/4 in Real Red grosgrain ribbon to the middle of the ornament and adhered the piece of Soft Suede to the edge of the ribbon. You can't see it in the photo but I attached a Real Red ribbon hanger with a bow to the top of the ornament. To attach it to the card, I used my Crop-a-dile. I used the biggest hole punch and made the hole through both parts of the card base. I threaded the 'hanger' through the hole so that the ornament stays on the card but the person receiving it would be able to tell that it comes off of the base. I didn't take a photo of it but the inside I stamped the "Seasons Greetings" from the Snow Swirled set. I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Hey stampers,
I am into the full swing of making Christmas projects. I am doing more projects for the second fund raiser that my sister's work is doing. I am trying to get a head start so I am not so pressed for time. I cased this project from another SU demo but I did it a little differently. I used Real Red card stock that I put through my brand new Big Shot using the Petals a Plenty embossing folder. Then I took a sponge and rubbed Gold Encore Ink on the petals. Then I used my Ornament punch to punch out 3 ornaments and adhered them to Whisper White card stock and used Real Red grosgrain ribbon to make the hangers and made small bows for the top of the ornament. I stamped the "season's greetings" from the Snow Swirled stamp set. I like the clean and simple look that also provides an easy, fast project to make. Thanks for stopping by.
