An Andi Original

Hey fellow stampers!  I am finally able to sit in an "office" chair for longer periods of time so I have a new project for and it is an original design.  I made a Santa Claus using punches.  This is the first attempt and I will be making more so hopefully they go a little smoother.  This little guy took about 2 hours and that was mainly because I was playing with what to use for what.  Okay so the papers I used were Real Red, Black, white, Soft Suede and a little tiny square of Christmas Cocoa.  I used Gold and Silver Encore ink and Blush Blossom ink. I used Dazzling Diamonds and 1/4" black grosgrain ribbon.

The punches that I used are:  Ornament, Scallop Oval, 1/8" circle, 1"
circle, 3/8" circle, Scallop Edge, Three flower punch, corner rounder, and I used one non SU punch, it is called Retro Flower.  I picked up at my local craft store.  It is made by the folks that make the SU punches though.  Santa's body is two Real Red ornaments.  I glued them together at the ornament hanger.  I cut the point off the top ornament and then cut at an angle so that Santa didn't look so big through the shoulders.  The face is made using the 1" circle punch.  I discovered that I was out of Blush Blossom card stock so I took my white card stock and swirled over the ink pad.  The beard is made from one Scallop oval.  I punch the oval out in white card stock.  I cut 4 rows and then cut the other end of the oval at row 3.  I layered them together to look like a beard and mustache.  The eyes are punched out of black card stocks using the 1/8" circle punch.  His nose is a 3/8" circle, again swirled in Blush Blossom ink.  I cut the "nose" so that about 3/4 of was there and I adhered it to the top of his mustache.  Took Real Red Stampin' Pastel chalk to make his rosy checks.  The trim on his hat is two scallops from a Scallop Edge.  The ball on his hat is one of the Three Flowers punch.  I added Dazzling Diamonds to it.  The hat is Real Red card stock cut into a free-hand triangle with the point folded down.  His arms and legs were made from the Retro Flower punch, this punch is similar to the 5-petal punch except the petals are rounded.  His belt is 1/4" black grosgrain ribbon threaded through a tiny square piece of Christmas Cocoa DSP.  The white cuff on the sleeves is made from the scrap that you get when you use the Scallop Edge punch.  Santa's black gloves are one scallop from the Edge punch.  I adhered Santa to a piece of Soft Suede card stock.  I stamped "Season Greetings" from the Snow Swirled set in Gold Encore ink.  I also brushed the edges of the card with the gold.  I used the Scallop Edge punch on the bottom of the top flap of the card.  I rounded the top two corners.  I used a Q-tip to sponge Silver Encore on Santa's beard, sleeves, and hat trim.  I am extremely happy with him.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks for looking.

Come and create something with me,

Andi
