More Dustin Pike

Good Morning my fellow stampers!  Today's project is another Halloween card and another freebie image from Dustin Pike. To color this cute little monster, I tried a new coloring technique that I found on this blog.  The technique uses watercolor pencils, a blending stump, and odorless minerals.  The blending stump can be found in the art section at your local craft store.  I got mine at Hobby Lobby and they were in the section with the watercolor pencils.  The odorless minerals was also in the art section but it was with the painting materials.  I used Prismacolor watercolor pencils and started with the lightest shade and worked my way to the darkest color.  The card base is Dusty Durango with a stripe of Crushed Curry.  I stamped the sentiment in Dusty Durango and it is from the Eat, Drink, and Be Scary set.  The image is printed on white card stock and backed with a black piece from the Ghostly Greetings DSP (which is retired).  I brushed the edges of the base and the white card stock with Crushed Curry.  The coloring technique was time consuming, mainly, I think because I am just learning how but the end result made it worth it.  Thanks for looking.  What do you think?  Leave a comment.

New Discovery

 

 Hey Fellow Stampers!  I discovered a website the other night and that site lead me to a another new one.  First this one, the creative lady from this, Michelle posted a cute Halloween card and my first thought was, I need that stamp, so I clicked on the link and it took me to this site Dustin Pike.  So I am looking for the stamp she used and discovered that the 'stamp' was a digi-image.  Dustin draws these images and then makes them available as digital stamps.  He has some super cute ones for sale but he also posts 'freebies' which is where the bear on this card came from.  I printed him on white card stock, colored him with watercolor pencils, cut out around him and viola.  I used a combination of  Dustin Pike, retired and current Stampin' UP!  I used Basic Grey, Tango Tangerine,  and Ghostly Greetings DSP.  The sentiment is from the Eat, Drink, and Be Scary set that is available in the current SU catalog.  Unfortunately, the Tango Tangerine and Ghostly Greetings are retired but it is the only Halloween paper I have right now.  On the Basic Grey piece that the Pumpkin bear is attached, I took my Jet Black StazOn and went around the edges and I used Tango Tangerine around the edges of the piece of DSP.  The sentiment is stamped on Tango Tangerine with Jet Black StazOn.  Punched out with the small tag punch and framed in Basic Grey using the large tag punch. Over the next couple of days, you will probably see several projects using a combination of Dustin's images and SU products.  I bought 8 images and downloaded all the freebies I could find.....I lost control for a minute.  I hope you like it.  Let me know.  Thanks for stopping by.

MOJO FOUND

I was just about getting ready to post a reward for my mojo but I have found it. I am taking a break from re-arranging my craft area to do a post. Tonight's post is a card that I made for my sister to give to her coworker who lost a parent recently. I used Crushed Curry card stock and Soft Suede card stock along with a piece of glossy card stock. The set I used is Thoughts and Prayers. I took the tree image and inked with Versa Mark ink and then ink the stamp with Timber Brown StazOn. I stamped it on Glossy card stock. Then covered the image with clear embossing powder and used my heat tool to set the powder. I trimmed my glossy card stock with Soft Suede (one of the new In Colors). The card base is Crushed Curry. I used Versamark again and used the same butterfly stamp from the Branch Out set. I stamped those on the Crushed Curry that isn't covered by other layers. The sentiment "Thinking of You..." was stamped in Dusty Durango onto Crushed Curry. I trimmed that with Dusty Durango card stock. I center that under the main image. I used the same technique to this card as I did in this post. I sponged around the tree image with Crush Curry and Dusty Durango. Then I used a sponge dauber to apply Dusty Durango around the edges of the Crushed Curry. I rounded all the corners except the top left. The ribbon I used is Very Vanilla with Dusty Durango sponged onto it. I really like how it turned out and you could change out the sentiments and not stamp butterflies and you have a masculine card. I am alive!

Ok, so I don't have a new project to show tonight but I wanted to let everyone know that I alive and kicking. I have just had some trouble locating my mojo. I put out an alert on facebook to help find it. I am going to be getting back on a regular blog posting schedule. I have some new ideas and Stampin' UP! has a new catalog and a new mini that goes live on September 1st and let me tell you folks...I think it is the best Mini Catalog yet. Some awesome new stamps. Floral Birthday

Good morning stampers! First I have to share with the blogging world that I am going to be an AUNT again. My niece called last night and told us....too exciting....baby cards could become a focus in April 2010. Anyway onto today's project. This card uses the new IN Colors and a couple different techniques. For the flowers, I stamped them in VersaMark and then used clear embossing powder and set that with my heat tool. I took my Jelly Roll glitter pen and added some sparkle. On the rose, I used it to trace around the petals and on the lilies I did the same thing and also used it to color in the flower center. The rose is done in Mambo Melon while the tow Lilies are done in Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango. I added stems and leaves. The stem comes in the Fifth Ave Floral, the leaves are from God's Beauty which was a hostess set from the last catalog. The white piece is framed with Bermuda Bay and then is adhered to Mambo Melon.
And at first I thought I was done with the card. But when I was getting ready to take pictures for this post I decided the it was too white. So I took my sponge and went around the flowers with all the new In Colors except Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay. This card is for one of my sister's co-workers so I stamped 'happy birthday' on the inside and it is good to go. What do you think? Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday.

Happy Saturday stampers! Today's project is using again using the new In Colors (have I mentioned that I love them!) I used Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry card stock and Rich Razzleberry ink. First I stamped the main image from the Fresh Cuts set using Rich Razzleberry ink. I stamped it on white card stock. I took that image and trimmed it down then I adhered it to a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock. I positioned it closest to the left edge of the card stock. You can't see it in the picture but I stamped the leaf stamp along the bottom and the right side. I took my scalloped edge punch to make a decorative side. That piece I attached to Crushed Curry. I used my scalloped oval punch to punch out the Thank you which is stamped in Rich Razzleberry. I added one of the flowers from this set too that was stamped with Rich Razzleberry on to Crushed Curry. I love all the color combinations that I have been able to use with the new colors...I need to start experimenting with the new colors and the other color families. I hope you like it. Sure Happy It's Thursday

Hey stampers! Tonight's project is something that was rolling around in my brain for a couple of days so last night I finally got it down on card stock. I have been using the new In Colors like mad. I was so sad when the colors from the last catalogs went away but these new colors are gorgeous and I love them. ALL of them. So anyways, tonight's project uses the following card stock: Soft Suede 5 3/4 x 4 1/4; Crushed Curry 4 1/4 x 5 6/16; Rich Razzleberry (2) 1 3/4 X 2 1/2; Glossy card stock 4 x 5 2/16. I used the tree from The Branch Out set. I inked the tree with VersaMark ink and then inked it with Timber Brown StazOn. I covered it with clear embossing powder and then embossed it. I stamped the first tree as close to the side and the bottom as I could. Then I stamped a second tree up higher and slightly to the right of the first tree. Then I used the 1 3/8 circle punch to create a rounded 'leaf' pattern. Then I sponged Mellow Moss, Old Olive and Kiwi Kiss over the branches of the trees. Then I added colors from a Peacock Brillance 3 ink pad I have. Then I sponged Crushed Curry, Mambo Melon, Dusty Durango, and Soft Suede around the trees. I stamped "cherish" from the Warm Words set in Timber Brown StazOn. I adhered the Glossy piece to the Crushed Curry. Then I took my two pieces of Rich Razzleberry and adhered them to the top left corner of the Crushed Curry and the bottom right. Then adhered all of it to the Soft Suede card stock.
